hey i work at a golf course, all you really need , is patience. for equip wise, you will need a set of clubs consisting of a 1 wood, 3wood, and a set of irons, there are numbers on your clubs which refers to the loft of the club. there are 3,5,7,9 a typical set of clubs which also includes putter. or there is the more advanced set which has 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,pitching wedge and sand wedge. you dont need such an advanced set especially becaquse you are a beginner. Us a glove it prrevents slippage of club when swinging. For balls use a golf ball, pinnacle are my favorite but expensive

It depends upon your age as far as the clubs to start off with because they have clubs for children as well as adults.
You may want to just start off with a 1,3,and 5 wood set for your woods. As far as your irons, you may want to start off with a set with a 3,5,7, and 9 iron as well as a pitching wedge. Also, find yourself a putter that you are comfortable handling, for putting is a huge part of the sport. As far as balls, you may want to start off with a dozen, along with a towel to wipe your balls and clubs clean with. And also a bag large enough to consume all of your equipment that is the right size for you to carry if you will be carrying your clubs on the course instead of carrying them in a cart.

I agree with the above answers, since your beginning, I’d start off with a set of clubs with the 1,3, and 5 woods. As well as the 3,5,7, and 9 irons and a pitching wedge, as well as a putter. Guess it doesn’t matter what brand of clubs you have, as you have to learn to use them first. So I’d start with something from Walmart. As far as balls go, I’d go with something cheap, since your a beginner. They usually have balls at the club house that you can buy a dozen for $4 or so. But if your not into that, I’d go with Top Flite balls. They are good for beginners. As far as clothes… it doesn’t matter, but if you plan on playing in high school then you have to wear a shirt with a collar. At least in my state you do. But wear something your comfortable in, your going to be swinging a club and need to be able to move. But good luck, read the rule book, as there are a lot of rules and golf etiquette’s. Have fun most of all.

Don’t buy anything. Be prepared for everyone to come out of the wood works to help you learn the game. Remember stick with the basics. You can’t change your swing every time someone tries to help you. I suggest you go to and sign up for a First Swing or Link Up 2 Golf Program. The will supply all the equipment and teach you how to pick equipment out when you are ready. Make sure and ask before you sign up to make sure they will take you out on two the course 3 times. Once you have taken one or both sessions you will know what equipment to purchase. I suggest taking those classes before you take private lesson, and one last thing. Don’t go to the range and practice before you take the lessons. Take the lessons first.

Start with graphite shafted clubs, cavity backed and also it doesn’t matter what brand as long as u r comfortable with the club. Or u can go to a pro shop and ask the shop keeper for his or her advice on which club to choose for starters.

Usually you make friend with someone who alrady play and see if they have any old clubs you could borrow. Then, in about six months time after you been hitting on the range with hired pro, ask the pro to take you on a round, and try to gang up with the friend you borrow the clubs.

As for clothing, it’s not really important, a T-shirt with collar, trousers, skirts, socks, and golf shoes are all you need. The rest, like glove, tees can be bought from the pro shop even in the course. I suggest you buy second hand ball (or used balls) as you will loose plenty of them on the first year of golfing. After a year or two, you’re then know what to buy, and wish you have enough money to buy them.
